About Nicky-Tams

Nicky-Tams has been established for over 100 years. The bar itself was a former bank, built in 1704, which afterwards went on to be called The Caledonian Vaults in the early 1900s.Nicky Tams is considered to be one of the most haunted pubs in Scotland. Apparently there are a few of the undead hanging about Nicky Tams and I don’t mean a few of the punters that have had one too many!! Possibly related to several murders in the vicinity around the early 1900’s, staff and customers frequently report unusual sightings, sounds and sensations.

The ghosts usually seem friendly and if you know where to look you can even see a few of their faces looking out - hidden in the walls of the pub. This dates back from the late 1800s, the former clergyman at the time was a man called M M Campbell, his photo is still displayed on the wall behind the bar as rumours has it he sits and watches everything going on, and even keeps his glaring eyes on the staff. The Strange Phenomena Society has conducted recent investigations after they heard all the ghostly stories going around about it.

The local press has even run stories about it. A detailed SPI casebook investigating Nicky-Tams is available. These other wordly ex-employees and patrons once ruffled Nicky-Tams
staff, but now seem content to just keep an eye on the place. In Lucky Corner, where two spirits play cards, a local filled in his pools coupon, and days later hit the jackpot. Whether spooky or just jammy, it’s a great decision to visit Nicky Tams Bar & Bothy, but you have been warned watch out for the spirits...
